Your Quick Guide to Connecting Your Domain #
Ready to get your business online? Follow these simple steps:
- Step 1: Grab Your Business URL
- First things first, head over to your Business Profile.
- Once you’re there, find and copy your business URL. This is the web address for your business (like
www.yourbusinessname.com
).
- Step 2: Log in to Your DreamHost Control Panel
- Now, let’s hop over to your DreamHost account. Open this link in a new tab:
https://panel.dreamhost.com/?tree=domain.dashboard#/list-view
- Log in with your DreamHost username and password.
- Now, let’s hop over to your DreamHost account. Open this link in a new tab:
- Step 4: Navigate to Manage Websites
- Once you’re logged into DreamHost, look for the Websites option in the menu.
- Click on it, and then select Manage Websites.
- Step 5: Find Your Specific Website
- You’ll see a list of your websites. For this guide, we’re using
beautyoffer.co
as an example (because we know it’s for a Facial Aesthetics offer). - Scroll through your list until you find the domain you want to connect.
- Gently hover your mouse over your chosen domain name (e.g.,
beautyoffer.co
).
- You’ll see a list of your websites. For this guide, we’re using
- Step 6: Access DNS Settings
- When you hover over the domain, some options should appear. Look for a button or link on the left that says DNS.
- Click on that DNS button.
- Step 7: Get Ready to Add a New Record
- You’ll be taken to a new page showing your domain’s DNS records.
- Look for a button that says +Add Record (it might also just say “Add” or show a plus symbol). Click it!
- Step 8: Choose the CNAME Record Type
- A little window or new section will pop up, asking what type of record you want to add.
- Select CNAME from the options. (Think of CNAME as a nickname or pointer for your domain).
- Step 9: Fill in the Details
- This is where you tell DreamHost where to point your domain. You’ll see a couple of fields to fill in:
- Host (or Name/Alias): In the first field, you’ll enter the first part of your business domain. For example, if your business URL is www.
beautybusiness.com
, you would typebeautybusiness
here. - Points To (or Value/Target): In the second field, you’ll tell it where to point. This value will always be:
sites.ludicrous.cloud
(Copy and paste this exactly!)
- Step 10: Add the Record!
- Once you’ve filled in both fields, click the Add Record button.
- Step 11: A Little Bit of Patience
- Great job! You’ve added the record. Now, the internet needs a little time to update everywhere. This is called DNS propagation, and it can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours (sometimes even a bit longer, but that’s rare).
- So, let’s give it some time to do its magic!
- Step 12: What to Do While You Wait
- While your new DNS record is settling in, you don’t have to just sit and watch!
- You can now go back to your GHL platform and continue setting things up there.
- And that’s it! You’ve successfully updated your DNS settings. Soon, your domain will be pointing to the right place.
